The International Crisis Communications Conference in Berlin

Next months I’ll have the pleasure to moderate a two day conference on Crisis Communications in Berlin. With an impressive list of speakers and panel session it promises to become one of the most interesting conferences this year.

Participants will have the opportunity to discuss their practical questions and experiences with several Crisis Experts and PR Professionals during workshop sessions and practice effective crisis communication strategies during two live Crisis Simulations.

Speakers range from practitioners like Carole Berthelot, Corporate Crisis Communication Manager at Solvay, academics like Prof. Dr. Denis Fischbacher-Smith, Research Chair in Risk and Resilience at the University of Glasgow and specialised consultants like Caroline Sapriel, Founder and Managing Partner of CS&A International.

One of the panel discussion I am especially looking forward to moderate is the one with Sönke Iwersen, Head of Investigative Research at Handelsblatt GmbH & Niels Sandøe, Journalist at Jyllands-Posten. We had a good pre-conference call and discussed “the other side” of a crisis - the view of the media.

I am very glad we’ll be discussing the importance of internal communications during a crisis. The golden rule is to first communicate internally when a crisis strikes but many companies simply forget their own employees and focus on external communications.

Ana Martines, Corporate Communication Director, CSR and Ethics at L'Oréal Portugal, Alessandra Mazzei, Director of the Centre for Employee Relations and Communication at IULM University and Alberto Andreu Pinillos, Associate Professor at School of Economics & Business Administration at the Universidad de Navarra will discuss this important topic during the conference.

Let me know if you’ll be there and let’s have a coffee! If you don’t have your tickets yet, register on the website today - I am certain the room(s) will fill up quickly.
